Now that's what I call getting to close to the action!
This storm resulted in one death,
and over 30 homes destoryed or damaged.
This tornado struck around 3:00pm,
LaPorte County SKYWARN started mobilizing and tracking
at 9:00am when the conditions were right. During this event
SKYWARN had spotters as close as 1 mile from the
torando on the ground and tracked it's path.
After the weather event as over, SKYWARN spotters
helped local law enforcement with ground search
and rescue operations, looking for any more persons
that might be trapped in their homes or injuried.
The following day, SKYWARN conducted field surveys, mapping
and documenting the damage for the
National Weather Service.
Most of the above photo's were taken during the ground survey.
At least one was not, I wonder which one?
** At no time was any spotter harmed or injuried. **
** Spotters are trained where to be and where not to be **
** Any one in severe weather should seek shelter **
SKYWARN's goal is to provide advance warnings
to help protect life and property.

These pictures are reminiscent of a western U.S. Low
Precipitation Supercell. This strom dropped hail up
to 1.5" in diameter. Stable air next to the ground
prevented this cell from forming funnels.
